Long-time Chugiak, Alaska resident, gym owner, trainer and event producer, IFBB Professional Athlete Cinzia Massaro Clapp has been selected to compete in the 2023 IFBB Masters Olympia in Cluj-Napoca Romania this August at the age of 54.
Dateline: Eagle River, Alaska, April 28, 2023 – It has been over 12 years since the last IFBB Professional League Masters Olympia has been held. This year, the league is bringing the event back in a big way, inviting the top athletes in the world from each division to compete in Cluj-Napoca Romania on August 26th and 27th. Over 400 athletes were considered from around the globe and less than 20 from each division were selected.
Fifty-four year old IFBB Professional Athlete Cinzia Massaro Clapp of Chugiak has been the owner, along with her husband and coach, Shawn Clapp of CMC Fitness Studio and Alaska Muscle in Eagle River for over 17 years. She has been competing in the IFBB Professional League since earning her pro card in 2010 at the NPC Fitness National Championships. Last summer, at the age of 53, she placed second in the Wellness Division at the IFBB Pro World Masters Championships in the over 35 and over 40 categories. This, along with two other second place finishes in Masters Pro Wellness was a key factor in being selected for the IFBB Masters Olympia where she will compete against the top 18 athletes in the world in the over 40 category.
Cinzia is thrilled to be traveling all the way to Romania representing Alaska and women in their 50’s as she is passionate about helping other women maintain fit and healthy lifestyles regardless of age. “At a certain stage in every athlete’s career you must ask why you continue to train and compete. This is my why – demonstrating through my actions that a woman can remain strong and healthy as she ages.”
