2009 Emerald Cup – 2 Weeks Out!
Funny how lately our sky is covered with clouds, because I have just recently started feeling like walking on a cloud at times during the day. Usually, it happens in the evenings and luckily after my early morning sprints and routine practice so that, even when I am about to do my evening moderate cardio, I can still get through it with control and a smile on my face. If you have pushed through the diet and training required to step on stage as a competitor, you must know precicely what feeling I am talking about. As I am typing this while on my treadmill on a 15 % incline and 3.0 mph speed, I have a tough time remembering the spelling of certain simple words. And, me being Italian it is not to be blamed for this.
As far as food cravings and how well I am able to stick to my diet. I am on it! Do I cheat when no one is watching? NO! I would be there while cheeting and I would know! As the worst critique of myself, I would get very upset and feel like I let everyone down including myself. So, early in my prep, I discuss with my nutritionist and trainer, Shawn, tactics to stay focussed and that can helpme be on track even during the toughest times, and trust me, I am not made of steel! So, here it is, I am going to share with you some of the tactics I established over the years of competing that keep me a happy competitor. No matter what, I ALWAYS make sure to ENJOY my favorite meal of the day, BREAKFAST, in the quietness of my home. Almost every day I savor a nice 16 oz. americano at Starbucks with my hubby. A handfull of almonds to go with the americano are the best part of my coffee break! Sugar free Jello blended with ice is my new Italian Ice!
Well, time flies when you are having fun! I just lifted my laptop from the treadmill console and my 60 minutes have gone by already! I told you I was having a hard time typing! It took me an hour to type two paragraphs! I sure enjoyed it, obviously for not even realizing I had been on it for 1 hour already. Done with pm cardio, had a pretty good morning cardio, although a little tired from sleeping only 6 hours and going to bed at midnight, pushed each one of my clients through their workouts with enthusiasm and fire as I like to give my self to them each and every day they come, watched my son play and having a great day with his friends at the studio and even hugged my hubby a few times to remind him I love him so much and appreciate him for everything he does for his family.
