2009 Emerald Cup – 5 weeks out
I am sorry I have not been writing for the past few days, but surprisingly enough, I was unable to log on to my site because so many people have been visiting it that I exceded my bandwidth allocation and had to have it increased! Nice problem to have, so if you visited yesterday and found an error message, that is why.
Boy! I really had a hard time sleeping last night! I kept waking up throughout the night being uncomfortable in any position! I have routine practice 3 times a week now and each practice is getting more and more intense. I am having a lot of fun with my new routine and it shows! I like the songs I picked, and I guess I am so into it that I am pushing my self harder every time! It is not unusual at this point in my training, when routine practice starts taking priority, that my calves and back get quite tight and soar after each practice. I consistently have to increase the time I dedicate to flexibility to alleviate the discomfort, prevent injuries, and to perform my flexibility moves at my very best with the best fluidity. Shawn just mentioned yesterday how well my body has internalized the beats of each song with this new routine.
As a matter of fact, even on those days I don’t really feel like practicing, as soon as the music starts, that lost energy comes to me from out of nowhere. Just when I thought I didn’t have it in me, my body just starts moving! This is why it is so important to pick a collage of music one really likes! Imagine having to try your passes over and over to perfect the execution with music you really are not all that inpired by! Few tries in to and that would really make me dread routine practice! With previous routines, I had picked a selection I thought I really liked, or that would really get the audience excited and then, as I practiced, I came to realize that that was not quite the case. That is the signal that you need a new selection!
As far as the amount of cardio I am doing these days, I am at one in the morning and one at night. Resistance training has been 4 time a week until last week, but starting tomorrow we will change things up a bit by upping the routine days to 4 and going to 3 for strength training.
